Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 2, 2026
KeyBench ("we," "us," or "our") operates keybench.tech (the "Site"). This Privacy Policy explains what information the Site collects, how it's used, and the choices you have. By using the Site, you agree to the practices described here.
The short version
Every testing tool on KeyBench runs entirely in your browser. Your raw key presses, mouse movements, click timings, and reaction times are never transmitted to a server. When you finish a test, we save a small summary — your best result and your daily testing streak — in your browser's local storage, on your own device. That's the only "data" KeyBench keeps, and it never leaves your browser.
What we store, and where
- Raw test input: Never stored. Key presses, mouse movement samples, and click timestamps exist only in memory while a test is running and are discarded the moment you leave the page or reset.
- Personal bests and streak: Saved to your browser's
localStorage— a storage area built into your browser that only your browser can read, tied to this Site's domain. This includes your best score for each tool and your current/longest daily streak. It is never sent to us or anyone else; we have no way to see it. Clearing your browser data, using a different browser, or switching devices will reset it, since there's nothing on our end to restore it from. - Newsletter signup: The newsletter form in the footer is not yet connected to a live mailing list — submitting it does not currently transmit or store your email address anywhere. If and when this feature goes live, this policy will be updated to describe exactly how that email address is used.
- Usage analytics: KeyBench does not currently run any analytics or tracking scripts. If that changes, we'll update this policy to describe what's collected and why.
Cookies
KeyBench does not set any cookies. localStorage, used for personal bests and streaks as described above, is a different browser storage mechanism that isn't sent along with page requests the way cookies are.
Third-party services
The Site is hosted as a static application with no backend database. We may use standard hosting infrastructure (for serving the website itself) that logs basic request information (like IP address and timestamp) for security and reliability purposes, as most web hosts do — this is infrastructure-level logging, not something KeyBench itself collects or has special access to.
Children's privacy
KeyBench is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children — in practice, we don't collect personal information from anyone, as described above.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the Site changes — for example, if we launch a real newsletter or add optional accounts in the future. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
